This thing is a great $$ saver, though you pay for it in the difficulty of removing the lid from the old battery. It can be done with patience, just be aware that it's not a 5 minute thing to install these.

As others have mentioned, the battery case is hermetically sealed. A couple of regular screwdrivers will get it open with a few minutes of careful prying. The replacement pack comes with short leads. It's probably easier to connect the old leads to the new ones and use the heat shrink tubing on the connections. I chose to desolder the old contacts and solder the new leads to the contacts. It's tight working quarters in there and in hindsight wished I had just spliced the wires together.

I give it 4 stars, not for the effort level, but for the lack of documentation.

It was a life saver to read all the previous purchasers and their stories. I was ready for the hassle of replacing non-user replaceable part. That readiness was sure needed as I wiggled a big knife through the glued up battery casing.

I am happy with the result. iRobot is an excellent product and they didn't use cheapest possible battery for their Roomba but this Tenergy batteries are one of the latest and it does hold the juice very well. Now I have my casing glue removed, I can forever keep my Roomba going. I love you iRobot! I hope you do more! My next lawn mower has to be from iRobot.

I, like some of the other reviewers, only got about 10 uses out of this battery before it quit holding a charge. By this I mean, it runs for 1 second and sings "come and find me"... which isn't as fun as usual because he will still be sitting at your feet. I used the roomba's service mode to run the wheels continuously to drain the battery down to zero. After a long day-long charge, it again rain for 1 second and stopped. No gain. Sad roomba.

The pain part is that it took forever to crack open my old APS battery as mine was very thoroughly sealed shut. I would recommend trying to open your battery before buying a kit like this to make sure you have one that is easy to open. Once open, the new battery kit does not fit quite right and required some force to get it in the old battery case. Then the new wires do not come with friction fittings or any other kind of connector.. just bare wires requiring soldering skills.. and a soldering iron.

Spend the extra $$ and get an irobot NiCD battery.. roomba just may not be compatible with the NiMH or I received a defective product. 2 stars if all you need is the triangular screwdriver and a blue and red doorstop.

this worked amazing for about 6 months of light use - it would run and run and run.
too bad that a few weeks ago, the run time went from 1.5 hour + to only about 10 minutes. I know NiMH batteries dont last forever, but with this light use it seems like i should have gotten at least a year's use from this

Originally, I was very happy with the replacement cells for the Roomba APS battery, but after about 6 months of cleaning 3x per week runtime has decreased dramatically. Now, my scheduler discovery won't run for more than 15 minutes regardless of attempts to discharge and recondition.

As others have noted, if you plan on keeping your Roomba running, either buy the iRobot OEM battery and have it last a year and a half (like mine) or bite the bullet and find Li-ion cells.

As batteries go, this one is top notch! It fit perfectly and as of today, has gone through a couple of dozen recharge cycles. It shows no signs of being inferior to the original that came with the Roomba. Thanks!

Great replacement for the Roomba battery, last longer than original and fits just like the original.

For the past few weeks we have been running the Roomba as it were out of the box. One comment about this product, is that it is not the same as pictured here. The picture for this item is the OEM one, but the product we received is clearly an unmarked (no Roomba logo), aftermarket battery, with regular Phillips screws on the case (as opposed to the triangular shapped ones from the OEM). Regardless, the Roomba functions just fine with it.

The battery only stays charged for about an hour. Not sure if that's normal considering my old one died a quick death.

BE CAREFUL of other NON-Original Roomba Batteries! They look almost the same, cost about the same, but can cause problems for the charging system. Amazon has the best TOTAL price for this battery.

I love the IRobot Roomba itself. It's a great product. Unfortunately the battery life is relatively short. I've had Roomba for three years, and had just purchased my third battery. I do use Rommba almost on a daily basis however, so I suppose that I can't complain.

I bought this battery to replace my other one because even though I had tried to reset it my Roomba would only run for about five minutes before returning to dock. I plugged this battery into my Roomba, let it charge for the requisite 16 hours, and then reprogrammed the scheduler. Unfortunately, when the Roomba came off the dock and began to run, it again only ran for five minutes before running out of power. So now that this supposedly new battery doesn't work I am at a loss to explain what I have to fix. I did bypass the dock and plugged the Roomba into the charger directly, but I haven't run it several times having done that to see if the problem is with the charging prongs on the dock or not. I would definitely recommend that anyone that buys this battery beware.

After only 9 months with my last battery, I had to order another because the one I had no longer charged. I live in CA so had to wait for it to be shipped from Kentucky. The new one came with no directions, but to be safe I put it on the charger for 2 full days before trying it. It hadn't charged. I can't know if it was the charger or the battery at fault. To find out would've taken at least another month of cross country shipping. I had to return it for a refund. That means my iRobot is now useless. Yet, when it works, it suits my purposes better than anything else out there. So, I'll bite the bullet and get another; perhaps newer models will be more reliable.
